10 great rules to live by in your marriage, taken from passages in the Bible.  


1.) Every day say "I love you".
"Therefore comfort each other and edify one another..." 1 Thessalonians 5:11

2.) Do not place others before one another.
"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh..." Mark 10:7-8

3.) Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire.
"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice" Ephesians 4:31

4.) Speak to one another in kindness and love.
"And, be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you" Ephesians 4:32

5.) If you must criticize, do it lovingly.
"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver" Proverbs 25:11

6.) Whenever you're wrong, admit it. Whenever you're right, be quiet.
"If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, or if you have devised evil, put your hand on your mouth" Proverbs 30:32
"Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth..." Proverbs 27:2

7.) Don't bring up past mistakes.
"...forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead" Philippians 3:13

8.) Love and accept one another's family as your own.
"...for your people shall be my people" Ruth 1:16

9.) Be faithful to your wedding vows.
"But let your "Yes" be Yes and your "No" be No.  For whatever is more than these is from the evil one" Matthew 5:37

10.) Worship and pray together. Pray for one another.
"Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker" Psalm 95:6
